Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

For Women in Austin, TX

Recovering from trauma, mental health challenges, and substance use disorder is a process — and one that certainly isn't completed in 30 or 45 days. We developed our comprehensive step-down continuum of care for women to act as a bridge between inpatient or residential treatment and outpatient care, fostering continued healing, growth, and recovery. This treatment unfolds over three distinct phases — Restore, Refine, and Reclaim. The first phase, Restore, involves treatment at a partial hospitalization (PHP) level. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?

A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a highly structured form of outpatient treatment that offers intensive trauma work, mental health care, and addiction treatment. PHP is designed for individuals who need substantial support, but don’t require around-the-clock supervision as in traditional inpatient programs or residential treatment. It serves as an effective middle ground between true inpatient hospitalization and less structured outpatient services. Despite the name, it does not involve hospitalization. Rather, the programming is a robust, residential-level schedule.

In PHP, individuals participate in a range of therapeutic activities that address their mental health concerns and any co-occurring disorders, returning to recovery-supportive housing communities each evening. This balance allows for significant therapeutic intervention, while enabling individuals to build community and maintain some aspects of their daily life — all of which can aid in the application of learned coping strategies to real-life settings.

This balance is similar to that of an IOP (intensive outpatient program), but the treatment provided in a PHP is comprehensive and tailored to the individual’s specific needs — whether that be treating a mental illness or substance use disorder. A multidisciplinary team of therapists and other mental health professionals conduct an array of therapeutic sessions every day. These sessions can encompass various therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), group therapy, and other forms of counseling.

The Benefits of a Women-Only Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?

Historically, more men enter treatment than women — perhaps a function of the fact that traditional behavioral health treatment programs have been oriented around the needs and behaviors of men. Women experience a different mix of mental and behavioral health issues than men do. For example, women with substance use disorder are more likely to have been exposed to trauma in the past than men. The progression of mental and behavioral health issues is also different — and often more rapid — in women than men. The research is clear: Women have different needs when it comes to healing. Our program was built to provide a safe, supportive community where women can receive the best treatment for their particular challenges. We offer:

Focused Treatment

A women-only PHP allows for the development of treatment plans that focus on issues commonly faced by women, such as trauma, anxiety, body image issues, postpartum depression, and more. By concentrating on these areas, our program can provide more targeted and effective treatment for women who are struggling.

Peer Support and Understanding

A women-only environment fosters a unique sense of camaraderie and mutual understanding. Women in the program can relate to each other’s experiences, providing mutual support and encouragement that can be highly beneficial for the recovery process.

In a women-only PHP, the focus on women’s unique experiences and strengths can foster empowerment. By learning from and supporting each other, women in the program can build resilience and confidence, promoting healthier coping mechanisms and positive change.

Accommodating Multiple Roles

Women often juggle multiple roles and responsibilities in their lives, which can contribute to mental health issues. Our women-only PHP provides tools and strategies to help women balance these roles effectively, reducing stress and promoting overall well-being.

Building Healthy Relationships

Our women-only program offers guidance on building and maintaining healthy relationships, addressing any past issues related to interpersonal relationships, and fostering positive future connections.

Modern life presents unique traumas, challenges, and threats to women. In a community of peers who have faced and overcome similar obstacles, women who are struggling can find the sense of safety that they need to truly heal for the very first time.
